Parents care deeply for their children. Taking care of one who is experiencing mental illness can be really hard. It often feels like more than a full time job; it's extremely emotionally taxing and never clear what path you should take to make things better.
You are NOT alone. There are 60 million people who provide unpaid care to loved ones in the US. Although every caring relationship is unique, there are challenges and solutions to be shared.
Our Shimmer Groups draw off of years of peer support and group therapy research. We believe in the power of connecting those with similar identities and experiences. Learn more about the evidence behind Shimmer Groups.
Our curriculum is carefully developed by a licensed mental health therapist specializing in young adult care, Sharon Kim LMHC, and an expert group psychiatrist doctor from UCSF, Amin Azzam MD.
Our curriculum covers essential skills in being a caregiver, with a mix of theory, discussion, exercises, and support.
